WORDS FROM THE COACH 08/21/06 I'm really looking forward to our 2006 season. Coming off a seemingly very successful season that included winning the MYFA league championship as well as the "2006 Greater Oklahoma City Championship", it would be very easy for us to put high expectations on our team for a repeat. However, the repeat that would impress me most is that of sportsmanship and Christian character. Our goal as coaches hasn't changed. This is our ministry; to help parents instill in their kids Christian character, sportsmanship & discipline, all under the umbrella of Little league football. Winning doesn't necessarily mean you were successful, nor does losing mean you weren't, but it's the character and purpose in which you played that will determine your success. I never want us to get wrapped up so much in winning that we think that's all there is. As I think back to my little league days, it's not the wins and losses that stick out in my mind, but instead, the fun I had playing with my friends and being on a "team". A few years back, I threw away all of my little league trophies that had been sitting in my attic collecting dust. Those trophies didn't mean a whole lot to me, instead, I have the memories of being on "good teams" (parents, coaches & players) that remind me how much fun little league sports were. I hope this year is fun for our "Bears". I promise if you watch a practice or come to a game, you won't be able to measure the success of our team by wins and losses, but instead by the effort they gave and the character they displayed while playing.
